Diagnosis

It is a uninucleated species which is most often polypodial containing numerous truncated bipyramidal crystals. The shape of the nucleus is usually that of a compressed spheroid with nucleoli found both around the periphery and in the interior. The nucleolemma was made up of a prominent honeycomb-like internal fibrous lamina whereas the plasmalemma consisted of only an amorphous coat with no discrete filaments extending outward from it. Similarity coefficients were less than 0.30 by isozymic analyses with species of genus Amoeba, genus Polychaos and genus Chaos, indicating an intergeneric relationship with these genera. (ref.
