Body irregularly oval with 2 posterior projections. 2 marginal rows of cirri, 1 with 3 rows of cilia. Peristome size moderate usually extending to equator. Often contains zoochlorellae. Contractile vacuole in posterior body half. Macronucleus in two parts, centrally situate. Found in ditches. Only a few species have been described. Considered by Dingfelder (1962) and Stiller (1974) to belong to Psilotricha. Jankowski (1979) does not concur.
