Trichotaxis

Trichotaxis Stokes

[ref. ID; 3925]
Trichotaxis has been separated from other holostichids primarily because of having more than one row of left marginal cirri. Because the number of rows of left marginal cirri is variable within a clone. Trichotaxis does not appear to be a valid taxon. The type, T. stagnatilis Stokes 1891, appears outwardly identical in most important respects with Keronopsis similis (Stokes, 1886) Kahl, 1932. Other supposed species of Trichotaxis probably can be placed in Holosticha. (ref. ID; 3925)
