Tokophryella Jankowski, 1973 (ref. ID; 2013)

Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Suctoria: Order Suctorida: Suborder Endogenina (ref. ID; 2013)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Rounded, very contractile body borne upon a short peduncle that appears to be an extension of the body tegument. The capitate tentacles arise from a single anterior fascicle that is positioned to one side of the body. The macronucleus is spherical and reproduction is by simple endogenous budding. This is a single species genus described by Claparede & Lachmann (1861) as Podophrya carchesii who found it growing on the contractile stalk of the peritrich Carchesium polypinum, recently Jankowski (1973) thought it sufficiently different to warrant erecting it as a new genus.
