Body outline shape oval with truncated anterior end. Apical region slants slightly from right to left and bears an unciliated ridge in which lies the slit-like oral aperture. Large cytopharynx occupies anterior quarter of cell, lined with trichites. Ciliation in longitudinal kineties. The dorsal and ventral edges are both lined with short processes each of which has the ability to extend. The processes are restricted to the posterior two-thirds of the body. Macronucleus elongate and C-shaped. Single posterior contractile vacuole which can occupy up to one-quarter of the body. Genus erected by Jankowski (1967) for Legendrea bellerophon Penard, 1914.
