Body heart-shaped, swimming with the broad anterior held forward. The furrow in the anterior surface leads to a ventral furrow where the oral aperture is situated in the anterior body half. There is an undulating membrane on the right and 2 slightly sigmoidal membranelles (M1 and M2) on the left. Membranelle M3 extends down the center of the oral aperture as a number of loosely packed rows of kinetosomes somewhat reminiscent of the quadrulus found in Paramecium. Somatic ciliation is complete greatest body width are slightly longer than those on rest of body. Trichocysts present. Single contractile vacuole in posterior body half. Macronucleus flattened, oral in outline centrally located. Single species genus.
