Body shape ovoid. Oral aperture apical, oval, surrounded by about 20 finger-like flaps or lappets. Cytopharynx supported by trichites. Body entirely covered by uniform cilia arranged in longitudinal kineties. Caudal cilium absent. Feeds on flagellates which color food vacuoles bright green. Macronucleus spherical, centrally located. Single contractile vacuole.

Descriptions

Spherical or oval, always with green food vacuoles containing Euglena and allied flagellates; cytostome at anterior end; cytopharynx with trichocysts, which are extensible at the time when food is taken in; cilia on about twenty rows, near cytostome somewhat longer; macronucleus round; sapropelic.
