[ref. ID; 2014]
Body cylindrical to cap-shaped with convex peristome, whose ciliary wreaths never make a complete turn and the angle varies from 180-270 degrees. The aboral end is typically suctorial and the denticles resemble those of Trichodina, i.e. the elements have both a centrifugal process and a centripedal ray. The macronucleus is horseshoe-shaped. There are 4 freshwater species which all occur on fishes. Most mainly mistaken for Trichodinella whose peristomial wreaths also turn through 180-270 degrees, however the denticles of the latter genus do not possess centripedal rays.
