Descriptions

Lorica elongated trumpet-shaped, its length 6-7 oral diameters; collar forming a low funnel of 100 degrees, its basal transdiameter 0.43-0.47 oral diameters; bowl cylindrical in the anterior two-thirds, slightly bulged in the posterior one-third, then gradually tapering to a truncated aboral end; fins six in number, spiraled, 0.31-0.35 of the total length, arising from a little above the aboral aperture. (ref. ID; 3596)
The lorica is long, hyaline, and nail-shaped. Hada reported the presence of posterior fins, but these were seen only on one specimen in the Enewetak samples. (ref. ID; 4046)

Measurements

Length 240-272; oral diameter 37-40; transdiameter of the neck 17; length of a fin 70-80 um. (ref. ID; 3596)
Length 313-332; oral diameter 36-37 um. (ref. ID; 3597)
The dimensions of the lorica are: length 246-287, oral width 31, width below rim 16 um (n=2). (ref. ID; 4046)

Salpingella attenuata Jorgensen (ref. ID; 3606)

Synonym

Salpingella acuminata subsp. glockentogeri var. attenuata Jorgensen, 1924 (ref. ID; 3606); Salpingella attenuata Kofoid & Campbell, 1929 (ref. ID; 3606); Tintinnus acuminatus Entz, 1885 (ref. ID; 3606)

Descriptions

Lorica much elongated, slender, 9 oral diameters in length; consisting of a funnel-shaped collar and a long tubular bowl; collar a wide inverted concave cone of 60 degrees; bowl cylindrical in the posterior half, 0.5 of the oral diameter in length, sharply conical (5 degrees) in the posterior half, distally convex conical (30 degrees); aboral end open, truncate; aboral region with 6 somewhat dexiotropic fins on the posterior 0.29 of the total length.

Comments

Differs from Salpingella gracilis Kofoid and Campbell in size and in having fewer fins and from S. ricta Kofoid & Campbell in more slender proportions and in lack of the surface rugose. (ref. ID; 3606)

Measurements

Length 288; oral diameter 32; transdiameter of the bowl 16 um. (ref. ID; 3606)
