Colonial. Inverted bell-shaped zooids mounted upon contractile branched stalks which contract in a zigzag fashion, not spirally. The myoneme in the stalk is discontinuous so that the side branches may contract independently of one another. Could be confused with the genus Carchesium in which the stalk contracts spirally.
