Body shape ovoid to cylindrical. Oral aperture apical, slit-like with a thickened ridge along right edge bearing several long finger-like protoplasmic processes which contain trichocysts. Cytopharynx supported by trichites. Somatic ciliation uniform and complete, kinetosomes paired. Some species with long caudal cilium. Macronucleus oval, centrally located. Single contractile vacuole, posterio-laterally situated.
