Large (150-310 um long) elongate ovoid to cylindrical shaped ciliate. Oral aperture in anterior body third, oval in shape with tube-like cytopharynx. There is an undulating membrane on the right of the aperture and one membranelle is visible on the left. Pre-oral suture present. The somatic ciliation is complete, short and dense. There may be one or more contractile vacuoles. The macronucleus either ribbon-like or moniliform.
