Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Hypostomata: Order Cyrtophorida: Suborder Dysteriina (ref. ID; 2013)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Body shape oval to reniform, dorso-ventrally flattened with dorsal surface more arched than ventral surface which bears 1 or 2 posterior cytoplasmic spines. Somatic ciliature severely reduced and located only on ventral surface except for a few dorsal bristles. There are about 4 kineties on the right-hand side, of which at least two travel the complete length of the body curving anteriorly around the apical region. There is a separate left-hand field of kineties which may traverse the complete body width but in one species (a marine one) there is a large gap between the right and left fields of cilia. The elements of the oral basket are not reduced and there are many trichites as is found in Orthotrochilia. The transverse kineties in front of the oral aperture lie side by side in this genus which distinguishes it from Orthotrochilia where those kineties lie end to end. The macronucleus is large, ovoid and of the heteromeric type. There are 2 contractile vacuoles.
