Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Suctoria: Order Suctorida: Suborder Endogenina (ref. ID; 2013)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Body ovoid to elongated cone shape, within a lorica which has a circular apical opening. The lorica forms a distinct collar around the aperture through which the body just protrudes and tentacles completely project. The lorica is borne upon a striated stalk. Macronucleus is ovoid to elongate and reproduction is by simple endogenous budding. This genus was recently created by Jankowski (1973) for the two species Discophrya longa and Thecacineta robusta originally described from Lake Baikal by Swarczewsky. Both species were found growing on the crustacean Axelboekia carpenteri.
