Trophont; In moult of freshwater shrimp Xiphocaridina compressa but also seen on other freshwater crustaceans such as Leander paudicens, Macrobrachium nipponense and even on moult of a mayfly nymph. Body twisted but usually reniform in shape. There are 9 rows of somatic cilia which spiral dextrally down the body from anterior to posterior. Rows one and nine do not originated at the apex but the other seven do. (NB original author numbered somatic rows incorrectly.) The postoral ciliation consists of two groups; there is a single large, centrally placed contractile vacuole with a very long anteriorly directed accessory canal. The single elongate macronucleus lie close to the rosette.
Phoront; Cysts found attached to the squamae and basal part of the second antennae and the branchial lamellae of freshwater crustaceans.
