Elongate, elliptical, dorso-ventrally flattened body with a slightly narrowed peristome no more than third of the body length, and bent slightly towards the animal's left. 2 rows of marginal cirri joining posteriorly. The ventral cirri small, numerous and arranged in 3 densely packed obliquely curving rows. Transverse cirri absent. Frontal cirri numerous and arranged in 4 transversely oblique rows. The contractile vacuole has a long serving canal near the left margin. Found in stagnant water over rotting leaves.
Single species genus originally isolated from N. America.
Borror (1972) placed the genus in Urostyla.
