Body-shape oblong-ovoid with both poles broadly rounded slightly wider anteriorly. Oral aperture in the anterior body third, oblong-oval in outline shape and lying parallel to the major body axis. Undulating membrane present on the right edge of the oral aperture and one membranelle visible on the left. Somatic ciliature complete and uniform. Pre-oral suture formed between the arch-like meeting of the ventral kineties. Trichocysts may be present. One contractile vacuole whose position varies with species. Macronucleus ovoid, centrally located with a single adjacent micronucleus.
