Approximately ellipsoid shaped body mounted on a short, stout longitudinally striated stalk. The body lies within a tightly fitting pellicle-like lorica. 12 to 15 tentacles emerge apically, they are short, stout non-capitate, non-contractile and contain in internal tube. The genus was first described as Dactylophrya collini Gajewskaja, 1929 and was recently (Jankowski, 1967) transferred into a new single species genus Dactylostoma. Found growing on antennae of crustaceans.
