Cometodendron Swarczewsky, 1928 (ref. ID; 2013)

Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Suctoria: Order Suctorida: Suborder Evaginogenina (ref. ID; 2013)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Elongate upright body bearing a number of branched arms which arise from the upper surface. There is no stalk and no lorica. The body is attached directly to freshwater gammarids by a foot-like extension. The arms are equipped with short retractile pointed tentacles. The macronucleus is spherical and reproduction is reported to be by simple endogenous budding. Originally described growing on gammarids in Lake Baikal. Most easily confused with Dendrocometes which has a rounded body without a foot attachment.
