Uniformly ciliated ovoid body with narrow peristome lying along left edge of ventral surface and rows of kinetosomes curving obliquely around it. There is an AZM on the left of the peristome but no undulating membrane. The macronucleus is elongate or vermiform and there may be two or many contractile vacuoles which may have satellite vesicles but no canals.
