Class Polyhymenophora: Subclass Spirotricha: Order Hypotrichida: Suborder Stichotrichina: Family Spirofilidae (ref. ID; 2014)

Body an elongate cone tapering posteriorly. 4 rows of cirri and 4 rows of cilia spiraling, at least twice, down the length of the cell. AZM short, restricted to the anterior body quarter. 2 ovoid macronuclei with adjacent micronuclei. Contractile vacuole situated in anterior body quarter. Found in detritus feeding on diatoms. Single species genus, originally isolated in Hungary.
