Climate Change Research Domain

In the Climate Change Research Domain, we aim to contribute to achieving the 1.5°C target by advancing scientific research that supports stabilizing climate change and improving global pollution, while providing a scientific basis for policy decisions. We will strengthen integrated observations, modeling, and evaluation of mitigation measures, with a particular focus on greenhouse gases (GHGs) and short-lived climate forcers (SLCFs). Through enhanced GHG–SLCF observations, inverse modeling, and improved emission inventories based on ground, aircraft, and ship measurements in the Asia–Pacific region and Japan, we seek to better understand their budgets and impacts on climate and air quality, and to contribute to international assessments and climate change mitigation frameworks.
