A transport equation is derived for the conservation of the number of cells of a species and which takes into account internal cell variables and space dependence. The formulation is reduced to the description of different cell variables and compared with other models. A predator-prey system is modeled using cell mass as the variable. The theory of multi-group equations is applied to solve the resulting set of equations. Some interesting asymptotic results are obtained for a particular cell population.
