Notes

A. brightwelli Gosse, A. intermedia Hudson, and A. sieboldi Leydig differ from one another in many respects and are considered to be distinct species. A. sieboldi is more similar to A. intermedia than to A. brightwelli, even though its trophi more closely resemble those of A. brightwelli. These conclusions result from a comparative analysis of trophi, resting eggs, males, potential for female polymorphism, number in the gastric and yolk glands, number and position of hypodermal nuclei, number of sphincrer coronae muscles, gastric gland ultrastructure, enzyme mobility, and interspecific crosses.
