Notes

Treatment of Stylonychia mytilus with thioacetamide (TAA) causes extensive changes in the configuration of the chromatin and the appearance of fibrils in localized areas of the macronucleus. This is accompanied by the synthesis of actin-like filaments in the macronucleus. Further, there is an extensive development of smooth endoplasmic reticulum in the cytoplasm within 4 hr of treatment and this may be involved in the detoxification of the drug.
