The protozoa plankton of Lake Svetloyar contains only a few species. Their vertical distriubtion in the water depends strictly on temperature: most of the infusoria are limited to the epilimnion and metalimnion. A relationship is demonstrated between the rate of reproduction of the infusoria and the rate at which they are consumed.
