Notes

Butlerius canadensis n. sp. is described and illustrated from Quebec, Canada. The new species is most similar to B. gerlachi but differs by having the cheilostom aperture devided into 12 cheilorhabdial plates, a more anterior pore-like vulva (V=41-43% vs. 51-54%), 30 cuticular body ridges with transverse striae forming blocks, and a tail that is at least twice as long as that of B. gerlachi. A new genus, Parabutlerius, is proposed for Butlerius species with a single anterior ovary, a large postvulval sac serving as a spermatheca, and a triangular or keel-like gubernaculum. Butlerius is emended to reflect the transfer of species to the new genus. The following changes are proposed: Parabutlerius monhystera n. comb. (type species), P. degrissei n. comb., and P. macrospiculum n. comb. Keys to the species of Butlerius and Parabutlerius are provided.
