The distribution of DNA in the macronuclear division of the Hypotrich ciliate Laurentiella acuminata has been studied by cytophotometric techniques. The mean degree of inequality found in the distribution of DNA between sister cells is 10.05%. Differences in DNA contents in randomly-paired cells is greater than in sister cells, this result could be due to accumulation of small differences over many divisions.
