Notes

The DNA contents of sister-cells are positively correlated. However, DNA is not equally distributed at binary fission; the differences between sister-cells are higher during senility period than during maturity. From analysis of hereditary transmission through sexual reproduction, it is inferred that genetic determinism of macronucler DNA content involves some cytoplasmic component. If other components (genic, caryonidal) are present, their effects are undetectable because of intracaryonidal variation introduced by unequal distribution at binary fission.
