Notes

The presence of Ochromonas sp. from an extremely acidic site in Italy is reported for the first time. The results of ecophysiological tests allow a probable identification of this strain with O. vulcania, the only other species which has been described from low-pH environments, while some of the morphological and ultrastructural characters are not in agreement with those reported in literature.
