Notes

With the example of Tracheloraphis dogieli Raikov, 1957 it can be shown that the oral infraciliature of this species is of the type characteristic for Prorodontida, consisting of the circumoral kineties and of a dorsal brush. This result indicates that the Trachelocercidae in the karyorelictean group are at the higher level of differentiation than previously thought, with respect to the oral ciliature. The hypothetical deducation that prostomial and ventrostomial karyorelicteans arose from Tracheloraphis (Small, 1984) is therefore questioned.
