Notes

N. carpocapsae an entomogenous nematode, produces against its host a lethal action independently from associated bacteria. Water-soluble entomotoxic products occur in axenic G. mellonella parasitized by axenic nematodes during L4 instar or the immature adult of developing nematodes in their hosts. This toxicogenesis can be related to the inhibition of antibacterial defence of the host by the nematode in order to explain the predisposition to septicemia observed during natural parasitism.
