The observation of an astomatous ciliate with a Thigmotrichina-Hysterocinetidae-looking thigmotactic area and of a Hysterocinetidae with an Astomatida-Hoplitophryidae-looking thigmotactic area suggests possible relationships between Scuticociliatida and Astomatida.
