Notes

The nutrition of the predatory freshwater ciliate Dileptus with Tetrahymena was studied to show the relationship between the food concentration and the reproduction and nutrition rate of Dileptus. The change in food concentration from 32 mg/e to 3.3 mg/e reduced an hourly of Dileptus from 10-13 to 2-3 Tetrahymena individuals, resp., while the generation time was seen to increase from 0.7 to 3 days. Coefficients of the influence of the consumed and assimilated food upon the growth of Dileptus are, respectively, K1=22-28% and K2=46%, the assimilability being 49-60%.
