In the macrovegetation zone of the Skutari Lake, a new species was found (1966 and 1972) and described as Platyias bicornis. The morphological characters are: the test spheroid or elliptical in form, with only 2 spikes at the anterior dorsal margin. Posterior spikes wanting. Dorsal ornament consists of pentagonal or of both pentagonal and hexagonal fields. The species is common during the summer.
