Notes

The respiration of laboratory cultures of Rotifers (Brachionus calyciflorus and Rhinoglena frontalis) was measured at five temperature using a micromethod of Winkler-method. The O2 consumption of B. calyciflorus is directly proportional to the protein content. The respiration of the two species increase with temperature. R and log T indicate a linear correlation with a higher Q10 for B. calyciflorus. When the animals are staved a reduction in O2 consumption but a similar R-T relation (same Q10) are observed.
