Notes

In the present state of our study of African rotifers, we had at our disposal the Algerian planktonic, benthic and periphytic samples of four expeditions, undertaken by Ghent State University between 1976 and 1978. By our investigations, the number of rotifer taxa known from Algeria is raised from 37 to 131. 68% of them are cosmopolitan, 20% are thermophilous with large distribution and 12% are pansubtropical-pantropical. Moreover, nine of them are new to Africa or to science. For some species, biogeographical indications are given.
