Notes

Brachionus variabilis is an American immigrant in the European fauna. Its appearance in the Boatracing Canal in Ghent is of very recent date; during previous investigations it was not yet present. Asplanchna girodi is a less surprising find. Although it was as yet unreported from Belgium, it has long been known from the surrounding countries.
