Notes

Six species of soil testacea from a spruce forest near Stuttgart, FRG ("Edelmannshof") are biometrically characterized and an "ideal-individual" is constructed for each of these species. Correlation analysis indicate that different shell parameters, especially depth, are varying in a manifold way. This points to allometrical growth and to an individual adaptation to the substratum, for example to use the watercontent of the substratum as best as possible.
