Notes

56 species of Rotatoria have been determined in samples from different Egyptian waters (lakes, ponds, canals and from the River Nile). 1 n. sp. and 1 nov. var. are described. A survey is given of the structured water bodies and their rotifers. Their questions of morphology, taxonomy and ecology of the single species are discussed, especially of Brachionus bidentata, Br. urceolaris, Hexarthra fennica etc. Finally the role of salinity for the rotifers is discussed in comparison with experiences from dam lakes of NE-Brasil and from the Lake Marakaibo (Venezuela).
