Notes

The data presented show that a single variety population of Keratella cochlearis (Gosse) underwent cyclomorphosis. A high correlation was obtained between the average temperature of the air for the twenty-four hours of the census period and the average length of the caudal spine of the population. Some recent work in embryology and biochemistry is discussed in relation to the proposed hypothesis concerning the effects of temperature and pH on morphogenetic enzyme systems.
