Notes

A new sessile species of Rotatoria, Ptygura elsteri, was discovered in a filtrate which contained a very rich and variegated microflora and fauna from a cluster of plant-roots floating in a shore-lagoon near Santarem, Brazila. The sample was collected by Prof.Dr. W. Noodt, Zool.Inst.Univ.Kiel. After comparison with similar species in the literature and with my own observations of related rotifers, brief taxonomical notes illustrated by original drawings are given.
