Notes

In both studied groups (the 250,000 Angiosperm flowering plants and the 1600 Thecamoebian microscopic animals) diversification proceeded in two very different ways: unproductive or less productive essays (left) and more productive ones (middle and right), for which the distribution is more or less lognormal. Well known greater diversity of tropical and subtropical zones is conforted, for the plants. Predictable gradations and also differences, some of them for the first time, are numerically conforted by the distribution according to the area. The median taxon, for the species of Thecamoebians, occupies less than one continent; for the genera, 2 continents; for the families, 6. Among the Angiosperms, corresponding areas are smaller: for the genera, only part of a continent; for the families, 3 continents. Among the more easily dispersed Pteridophytes, for the families, 6 continents. The very small Thecamoebians hold the record for the colonization in the very severe Antarctic: more than 3% of the species, 21% of genera, 42% of families.
