Notes

Enquiries were made to find which slide collections of Testacea are in existence in Great Britian. The main collections are by the Swiss Engene Penard: 950 slides at the British Museum (Nat.Hist.), 115 at the Royal Microscopical Society, 65 at the Quekett Microscopical Club and 62 at Edinburgh University. These collections include material collected by J. Murray and G.H. Wailes and contain specimens described in various published papers. A collection by G.C. Wallich is also in the British Museum (Nat.Hist.). These collections contain undersignated type material and the Penard collections also contain slides of naked amoebae, Heliozoa and ciliates.
