Notes

Vertical distribution of the soil inhabiting Testacea in the Tyrolian Centralalps were investigated. The classification of the community structure by Sorensen-Quotient, Mount-ford-Index and Renkonenzahl (concordance) showed higher similarity between the different soil layers (0-6 cm/6-10 cm) at 1000 m and 2000 m above sealevel than between those at 1000 m and 3000 m. High species numbers, maximum abundance and maximum diversity were found in the upper soil layer (0-2 cm), minimum species number and abundance in a depth of 8-10 cm and at 3000 m above sealevel. The number of cysts decreased with profile depth while the number of dividing animals increased.
