We studied the rotifer community of a large reservoir which was completely emptied for repairs. The goal was to find our whether such a great disturbance would affect the rotifers. We compared two periods: (1) the time previous to emptying, and (2) the time of actual refilling plus the time with water level already considered as normal. Major modifications were found only during refilling, i.e. at the beginning of the second period. At the end of the second period the community already looked much as in the first period. We conclude that the rotifer community was not significantly affected by emptying of the reservoir.
