Microlaimus capillaris Gerlach, 1957 is redescribed based on specimens from a mangrove mud-flat in the Clyde River estuary, NSW, Australia. It has not been reported since the original description from a similar habitat in Cananeia, Brazil. It differs from all other known Microlaimus species by the lack of an anterior testis and an asymmetrical copulatory apparatus.
