Notes

The peritrichous ciliates of small water bodies near Grossglockerroad (Hohe Tauern Austria) were investigated. 30 species were found, 26 of them are described in this paper. A biometrical analysis of the argyrophilc structures was performed in 20 species. The results indicate that this method yields valuable criterions for species identification. New to science are: Pseudovorticella pseudocampanula nov. spec., Pseudovorticella quadrata nov. spec., Vorticella alpestris nov. spec., Vorticella operculariformis nov. spec., Rhabdostyla dubia nov. spec., Opercularia archiorbopercularia nov. spec., Opercularia venusla nov. spec., and Orbopercularia nodosa nov. spec.
