Leptopharynx

Leptopharynx Mermod, 1914 (ref. ID; 2013, 7543, 7557)

Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Hypostomata: Order Nassulida: Suborder Microthoracina (ref. ID; 2013)

Synonym Trichopelma Levander, 1900 (ref. ID; 2013) reported year? (ref. ID; 1618)

[ref. ID; 1601]
Oral apparatus between middle and anterior third of body, rightmost somatic kinety or right side uninterrupted, preoral kineties run in distinct furrows from the ventral to the right body side and form a keel. (ref. ID; 1601)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Body shape irregularly oval in outline, laterally compressed and covered with a longitudinally ridged rigid pellicle. Somatic cilia not dense but they cover the entire body. There are 4 kineties on each side of the body but are rather more regularly arranged on the right side. Cytostome close to body edge, cytopharynx tubular supported by a basket of trichites. On the right and above the cytostome is a short row of double cilia (kinety one) forming the paroral ciliature and below the cytostome are 2 membranelles. Trichocysts and/or zoochlorellae present in some species. Single contractile vacuole. Spherical macronucleus centrally situated with an adjacent micronucleus.
