1. Definitions

The following terms as used herein shall have the following meanings.

1. "NIES" refers to National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan
2. "the website" refers to the website of Biodiversity Web Mapping System (BioWM).

3. "deliverables of maps" refers to screenshots (image files, PDF) and printing materials of the outcome of web mapping tools available on the website. Search conditions and legends are included. Any material that is out of map range, such as the header, footer and the logo of the website is not included in the deliverables of maps. Maps of external links are excluded.
4. "target data for mapping" refers to the data that include geographic information used for deliverables of maps (e.g. GBIF occurrence data, data of East Fukushima Wildlife).
5. A "third party" refers to individuals or organizations other than NIES.

2. Use of deliverables of maps

CC BY 4.0 license is applied for deliverables of maps. When using deliverables of maps, you must acknowledge the use of deliverables of maps, as described in citations on each page. The credit of a base map which appears in the corner of the map should be included in deliverables of maps. Please abide by any rights and licenses for target data when when mapping. A third party may have the rights of target data mapping. Users must not infringe on the rights of any third party. You can find data use agreements of GBIF here.

3. Copyrights

All information available on the website is attributed to NIES. Any unauthorized reproduction or distribution of the website, or any portion thereof, is strictly prohibited; excepting however that deliverables of maps can be copied or distributed as previously described.

For citing the website, please use the following citation as an example.

4. Disclaimer

1. While NIES makes substantial efforts to ensure the accuracy of information on the website, definitive accuracy of this information is not guaranteed.
2. NIES is not liable for any loss or damage which may be incurred by the use and interpretation of the website.
